Fun Hot School Lunch

School lunch solutions are not always that easy. With a Thermos Nissan 16-Ounce Stainless Steel Food Jar it is easy, fortunately. With a Thermos Nissan you can send lunch to school and know it will be as hot or as cold as it should be!

To give you an idea, here is a recipe to try as lunch for your kid in a Thermos Nissan 16-Ounce Stainless Steel Food Jar:

Kid Favorite Thermos Chicken Chowder

What You Need:

  • 1 tbsp canola oil
  • 1 onion, chopped fine
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1/2 tsp poultry seasoning
  • 1 1/2 C milk
  • 1 c frozen hash browns
  • 1 c corn, frozen
  • 3/4 C chicken breast, cooked and cubed
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

How to Make It:

  1. Place the oil in a large sauce pan over medium heat.
  2. Allow the oil to heat slightly.
  3. Add the onion and cook stirring occasionally, 5 minutes or until tender.
  4. Cover the cooked onions with the flour and poultry seasoning.
  5. Continue to cook 1 minute longer.
  6. Pour in the milk.
  7. Stir constantly bring the mixture to a boil.
  8. Allow to cook 2 minutes longer, still stirring, until mixture begins to thicken.
  9. Place the potatoes and corn into the mixture.
  10. Bring back to a slightly gentle boil.
  11. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and cover the pan.
  12. Cook 12 minutes or until the potatoes begin to tender.
  13. Stir in the chicken carefully.
  14. Cook an addition 15 minutes or until the chicken is heated through.

Serves 4

This makes a great thermos lunch for children.  Just remind them not to open the lid until it’s time to eat.  Add a biscuit with butter and jelly to top off the perfect lunch.
